THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Bottled in July 2014, but still not in the market at the time of tasting, the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc Zieregg (2011 was a spectacular vintage in Southern Styria) is very pure and smoky on the deep, concentrated, herbal, fresh and lemon-flavored, wet chalk nose. Full-bodied, very intense and powerful on the palate, this elegant and creamy textured Sauvignon is round and complex, but also compact thanks to the firm, grippy tannin structure that balances the weight of 14% alcohol. The finish is very long and salty, and although this wine is still a baby, it is one of the greatest Ziereggs I can remember. It is powerful but firm, still elegant, and full of tension and expression. Very pure and perfectly balanced, indeed. However, the wine needs another 4-5 years to start its flight over the years."

WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Aromatically intense notes of flint, smoke and gunmetal already hint at the precise and profound nature of this Styrian Sauvignon Blanc. Everything is in abundance: concentration, savory undertones of boxwood and moss and an integrated acidity that gives both length and structure to this intense wine."
