DECANTER: "A bright and accessible wine in Listrac from the Vignobles Chanfreau portfolio, a little more austerity here than in their Lestage. Feels ambitious, with appealing smoked coffee bean aromatics that add a gourmet touch. Damson fruits abound, tannins are bouncy rather than silky, this should widen out nicely over ageing and is good quality. 30% new oak. Antoine Medeville consultant. A yield of 39hl/ha."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Berry and light coffee-bean aromas follow through to a medium body with firm tannins and a lightly chewy finish. Very typical. Well crafted. Needs a year or two to soften, but very nice already."

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Randaufhellung. Mit zarten Röstaromen unterlegte Kirschenfrucht, rote Waldbeeren, einladendes Bukett. Am Gaumen rotbeerig, feine Fruchtsüße, integrierte Tannine, zartes Nougatkaramell im Abgang, frisch, mineralisch und trinkanimierend."

WINE ENTHUSIAST: "From the home property of the Chanfreau family, this wine is structured, with spicy tannins over jammy black fruits. A core of dryness will propel the aging process. Drink this wine from 2026."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "I somewhat underestimated the 2019 Fonréaud when I tasted it earlier this year, and revisiting it at a more leisurely pace, the wine is really quite impressive, unfurling in the glass with aromas of cherries and berries mingled with subtle hints of forest floor, mint and spices. Medium to full-bodied, pure and vibrant, with a concentrated core of fruit, bright acids and sweet, powdery tannins, it's a seamless, serious wine that benefits from a bit of air if you intend to approach it today."
