WINE ENTHUSIAST: "This estate continues to rise in quality, and this bottling is a serious and dense wine. It has obvious flavors of wood aging, but balanced with rich blackberry fruitiness. The texture is dark and concentrated. Drink from 2017."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "An attractive nose of creme de cassis, earth and oak jumps from the glass of this dense ruby/purple-colored wine. A classic, impressive effort from the Casteja family, this 2011 transcends the vintage character, and is an unqualified success as well as a major sleeper of the vintage. Structured, rich, medium to full-bodied, pure and layered, it should be at its finest in 3-4 years, and keep for two decades."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A dense wine for the vintage with walnut, berry and currant character. Full body with integrated tannins and a refined finish. Very fine indeed. Extremely well crafted for the vintage. Better in 2017."

WEINWISSER: "Sattes Purpur-Granat, dicht in der Mitte, lila Schimmer aussen. Reifes Pflaumenbouquet, etwas Teeraromen, recht viel Lakritze, KandissĂĽsse. Im Gaumen cremig, ziemlich fĂĽllig mit schon fast molligen Tanninen, zeigt im Finale sĂĽsses Malz von der offensichtlich sehr reifen Frucht und weiss wohl bald schon sehr zu gefallen."

WINE SPECTATOR: "Slightly grainy in feel, with singed wood spice and espresso notes leading the way, backed by dark mulled fig and blackberry fruit flavors at the core and ending with a tobacco-filled finish. A bit old-school in style. Best from 2015 through 2022. 18,330 cases made."
