Weingut Burg Ravensburg - HK3 Riesling, trocken

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The time seems finally ready for multi-vintage blends in the German-speaking Vinelands. After the three spectacular Tradition/Heritage cuvées of Schloss Gobelsburg in Austria, Burg Ravensburg also comes up with a non-vintaged special cuvée: HK3! The NV HK3 is a dry Riesling that blends three vintages of the domain's Husarenkappe monopole, 2011 (50%), 2015 and 2016 (25% each). The wines matured for years on the full lees in Champagne magnum bottles that were sealed with crown caps until the final blending in February this year. General manager and winemaker Claus Burmeister calls the inaugural HK3 "the essence of the Husarenkappe," the castle's finest organic (since 2010) and today biodynamically farmed Riesling site. "We wanted to create a special wine in which maturity plays an important role, the vintage recedes into the background and the characteristic terroir of the Grosse Gewächs site clearly takes center stage."
