WINE SPECTATOR: "More tobacco and cedar character on the nose, with hints of ripe fruit. Full-bodied, yet fine and sophisticated, with elegant tannins and a long finish. This is always a top-quality red. '89/'90 Bordeaux non-blind horizontal. Drink now."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Château Pichon Longueville Baron Pauillac 1995 : This is surprisingly delicate and fine now with currant and spice character and hints nuts. It is full body with refined texture and a beautiful finish. No reason to wait on this red. It´s ready to drink."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "A stylish, elegant, more restrained style of Pichon Baron, with less obvious new oak than usual, this deep ruby/purple-colored wine offers a pure black currant-scented nose with subtle aromas of coffee and smoky toasty oak. In the mouth, the wine displays less weight and muscle than the 1996, but it offers suave, elegant, rich fruit presented in a medium to full-bodied, surprisingly lush style. Anticipated maturity: 2001-2016."

DECANTER: "Ripe but fresh, with cedary and flinty blackberry and plum fruit still lingering on"

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Stern, classic, old school Pauillac, with a text book nose of cedar, cassis, tobacco and green pepper. Austere on the palate, which is as you would expect from most 1995 wines, at 22 years of age, this is not going to change. 2 hours of air helped, but did not cure all its ills. If you long for days for the days of lower alcohol, and a strict character, with some green, this is going to make your day."
