THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Pichler’s 2007 Riesling Smaragd Steinertal smells of ripe pit fruits with pungent Szechuan pepper and crushed stone typical for the site. Lush, concentrated, infectiously juicy and full of energy on the palate, this mingles fig and ripe peach playing against grapefruit and peppery, mineral notes, and finishes with improbable intensity and electric length. It seems capable of a decade or more of fascinating evolution in bottle."

WINE SPECTATOR: " A very seductive and refined white that's plush, rich and creamy. Intensely spicy and ripe, with baked peach, Fuji apple and glazed apricot flavors that carry through to the long, lush finish. Drink now through 2020. 35 cases imported. "

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Youthful, soap-powder, lemon sherbet, spritzy on the tongue and massively lengthy. Dry and steely on the finish – the nose needs quite a bit more time to open up."
