WINE ENTHUSIAST: "This wine is superb. With its power and structure it will age over 20 years or more. Backed by blackcurrant and jelly flavors, it shows great fruity attractiveness even at this early stage in its development. It will develop slowly and evenly to become a reference point for the vintage."

DECANTER: "A beautiful moment to be drinking this wine as it edges towards tertiary flavours. Beginning to soften around the edges now, with waves of brushed leather, walnut, dried roses and earth, together with the fresh acidities of its limestone soils. Supple tannins, finessed and fine, with juicy raspberry puree and blackberry fruits. 55% new oak, harvest September 23 to 30"

JAMES SUCKLING: "I love the chocolate and blackberry character, with hints of cedar. Nicely perfumes. Full and very creamy, with soft tannins and a long finish. The tannins compliment the creamy texture perfectly, wait two more years to pull the cork. 2012."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "Deep garnet-brick in color, the 2000 Canon opens with mature scents of cigar box, dusty soil, and iron ore giving way to a core of prunes, dried mulberries, and Chinese five spice with a touch of new leather. The medium-bodied palate is graceful and delicately played, with loads of mineral undertones to the dried black fruits and a powdery texture, finishing with a lively lift."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Fresh, bright, medium-bodied, elegant, soft, and a bit crisp, the wine is packed with dried flowers, crushed rocks, stones, bright red cherries, red plums, earth, and thyme. This is good now, but it's just starting to show well and is only going to continue developing for several more years from here."

WEINWISSER: "Tiefes, dunkles Purpur, erster Hauch von Reife. Leicht trockenes Bouquet, Dörrfrüchte, Heunoten, schwarze Pfefferkörner. Im Gaumen fleischig, leicht kernig, für einen Grand Cru etwas bourgeoise, wilder Rosmarin im Abgang. Weshalb nur hat der 2000er bereits die Frucht verloren?"

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "This elegant St.-Emilion has filled out nicely over the last decade. From barrel and post-bottling, I thought it might turn out austere, but that does not appear to be the case. It offers a deep ruby/purple color as well as copious aromas of black cherries, crushed rocks, and earthy undertones. While not a blockbuster, it is beautifully balanced and pure, revealing slightly more depth and richness than I expected. Drink it now and over the next 10-15 years."
