JAMES SUCKLING: "What a wonderful nose of blackberries, limestone, minerals and dried violets. Full body and very fine tannins that are sophisticated and tailored, with a really fine texture and liveliness. The length is fantastic and refined. Try after 2026, but impressive to taste already."

DECANTER: "Another extremely successful vintage for Château Rocheyron, combining powerful blackberry, raspberry and cassis fruits, with bitter-edged black chocolate and perfectly-judged tannins that scrape through the finish like pure slate. This dives deep down in terms of its flavours and reach, and answers the expectations for a St Emilion with breadth and impact, but doesn't overpower, and backpedals on the finish to end with lightness and grace. I love it, really exceptional stuff from winemaker Peter Sisseck, with clear ageing potential showcasing the potential of limestone. 40% new oak."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "It is difficult to decide what I like best, the opulent, polished, luxuriously textured fruits, or the show, floral, licorice, chocolate and dark red pit fruits on the nose and palate. Fortunately, you do not have to decide because here, you have plenty of both! The velvety finish leaves you with multiple layers of sweet, pure cherries, black plums, earth and thyme. Drink from 2024-2047."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2019 Rocheyron is sensual and expressive, wafting from the glass with aromas of raspberries, pencil shavings, potpourri and sweet soil tones. Medium to full-bodied, broad and enveloping, with tangy acids, powdery tannins and a supple, seamless profile, it concludes with a mouthwateringly saline finish. This collaboration between Peter Sisseck and Silvio Denz has turned out brilliantly."

WEINWISSER: "80 % Merlot, 20 % Cabernet Franc, 30 hl/ha, 50 % neue Barriques, Produktion 15.000 Flaschen.

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2019 Château Rocheyron emerges from the talents of Silvio Denz and Peter Sisseck. Its deep purple hue gives way to a textured, medium to full-bodied Saint-Emilion with loads of ripe chocolaty darker fruit, notes of tobacco, chalky minerality, and sappy flowers, ripe tannins, juicy acidity (if not almost too much acidity, which makes me question the balance), and a great finish. It's one of those wines that you love, yet it still gives me just a hint of pause on the overall balance. I followed this wine for two days and it showed more balance on day two, with the acidity being more integrated. I'd give it a few years, and it should keep for 10-15 with no issues."

WINE SPECTATOR: " Offers a rich and flattering feel, with waves of plum sauce, blackberry preserves and melted black licorice. Delivers ample toast, but it's easily absorbed through the rich finish. This doesn't have a ton of range, but it's a solid midterm drinker. Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Drink now through 2032. 1,600 cases made."
