JAMES SUCKLING: "The blue fruits and flowers with some dark chocolate come through clearly. It’s medium-bodied with firm tannins that are integrated and long. Savory finish. Needs three or four years to soften. Drink after 2026."

WEINWISSER: "Sehr vielschichtiges blau- und schwarzbeeriges Bouquet, heller Tabak, Estragon, dunkles Graphit und zartes Veilchenparfüm. Am satten Gaumen mit cremiger Textur, betörender Extraktfülle und balancierter Rasse, engmaschiger Körper. Im gebündelten langanhaltenden Finale Holunderessenz, tiefschürfende Terroirwürze und mehlige Adstringenz."

FALSTAFF: "Tiefdunkles Rubingranat, opaker Kern, violette Reflexe, zarte Ockerrandaufhellung. Feine Edelholzwürze, ein Hauch von Bourbonvanille, schwarze Waldbeeren, etwas Lakritze, einladendes Bukett. Komplex, saftig, reife Pflaumen, reife, tragende Tannine, etwas tabakig unterlegt, Nougat im Abgang, zeigt Länge, würziger Nachhall, vielseitig einsetzbar."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Licorice, flowers, wet earth and ripe red fruits show a vibrancy and freshness. The soft, silky tannins give the ripe berries texture, length and definition. The savory finish combines sweet red berries with touches of olives and herbs."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Aromas of jammy cherries, berries, rose petals and pencil shavings introduce the 2020 Plince, a medium to full-bodied, fleshy and charming wine with a giving, accessible profile that will render it approachable on release."

DECANTER: "Gorgeous perfumed, lovely scented aromatics on the nose, flowers and dark black fruits. Charming and seductive, this has a bounce and plushness to it, definitely a dark streak with some minerality - a metallic tang on the mid-palate that is taking over some of the fruit right now, giving it a bit of a savoury edge - liquorice, cedar, charred, smokey, tobacco and coffee elements the stick out slightly. I love the chewy texture and the mouthcoating tannins but it’s the salinity and wood that overpower slightly and turn the focus away from the fruit. 15% alcohol."
