JAMES SUCKLING: "Very velvety tannins with juicy plums, currants and chocolate. Hazelnut, too. Full body yet so textural and gorgeous. Lots of walnut and fruit at the end but very subtle. Tension. So lovely and attractive already, but give it four or five years."

FALSTAFF: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, zarte Randaufhellung. Reife Pflaumen, kandierte Orangenzesten, zarte schokoladige Nuancen. Saftig, rote Kirschen, frisch und lebendig, seidige Tannine, mineralisch-salzig, delikate Textur, bleibt sehr gut haften, sicheres Entwicklungspotenzial, sehr trinkanimierender Stil."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2020 Château Lagrange (Pomerol) is based on 100% Merlot from more gravelly clay soils. It has a classic Pomerol round, sexy style as well as good complexity in its red and black fruits, spice, dried tobacco, and loamy earth-like aromatics. It's balanced and has plenty of structure as well as outstanding length."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2020 Lagrange (Pomerol) wafts from the glass with aromas of sweet berries, cherries, loamy soil and new oak, followed by a medium to full-bodied, velvety and fleshy palate with a gourmand core of fruit framed by powder tannins that assert themselves on the finish."

DECANTER: "A bit reticent on the nose which is softly floral and black fruited with roses and violets. Supple and clean, this has a nice directness to it. Has weight and density, almost a chew but keeps the focus, the tannins are fine, so well integrated but they do provide support to the fruit and give the frame. It’s an easy wine, lots to like. Feels quite hot, the fruit has a ripeness, a plum and fig tone, with some wood elements on show in the slight cinnamon, clove and liquorice edges. The alcohol is maybe covering up some of the detail and the overall expansion is a bit restricted, but this is a refined style. Needs time."
