Am mittleren Gaumen mit weicher Textur, reifem Extrakt, stützender Rasse, zart ausgeprägten Muskeln und drahtigem Körper. Im gebündelten Finale rote Kirsche, Sandelholz und fein sandige Adstringenz."

JAMES SUCKLING: "A crunchy and juicy red with blackberry, currant and chocolate, as well as cedar. Medium body. Refined tannins. Attractive depth of fruit to this. Drink or hold."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The 2021 La Chapelle de la Mission Haut-Brion offers up a complex, fresh bouquet with aromas of lead pencil, spices, dark berries and menthol. Medium to full-bodied with a fleshy texture, it’s perfectly balanced with a structuring core of fruit, powdery tannins and a long, ethereal, delicate finish. It’s more polished and round than Le Clarence de Haut-Brion."

DECANTER: "Fresh and fruity nose, quite bright and expressive with clear berry fruit aromas aligned with touches of tobacco, liquorice and dark chocolate. Smooth and succulent, instantly juicy and mouthwatering. Clean and controlled, this has good energy and focus. It’s quite tart, verging on sour but the mineral chalky, wet stone grip brings it back and harmonises the finish with menthol touches and soft spiced edges. A sharp, tangy wine. High acidity but lovely and cool all the way through. Nice purity and finesse."

JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2021 La Chapelle De La Mission Haut-Brion is a gorgeous second wine that shines for its purity and finesse while still bringing plenty of fruit. Redcurrants, black raspberries, and flowers, as well as some tobacco and spice, all define the aromatics, and it's medium-bodied, has beautiful tannins, and outstanding length. I'd be thrilled to drink a bottle any time over the coming 15 years."

FALSTAFF: "Kräftiges Rubingranat, violette Reflexe, dezente Ockerrandaufhellung. Frische schwarze Kirschen, Zwetschken, aber auch rote Beeren und Tabak. Mittlerer Körper, rotbeerig und frisch, Rote Ribiseln, lebendig strukturiert, eingebundene Tannine, salziger Nachhall, bereits gut antrinkbar."

LISA PERROTTI-BROWN: "La Chapelle de La Mission Haut-Brion 2021 is medium to deep garnet-purple in color. It needs a little coaxing and swirling to bring out notes of fresh plums and blackberries, giving way to wafts of lavender, Sichuan pepper, and tilled soil. Medium-bodied, the palate is coated with black fruit and mineral layers, supported by grainy tannins and well-knit freshness, finishing earthy."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Medium-bodied, bright, crisp, almost crunchy wine with nuances of herbs smoke, tobacco leaves, and spice that adds complexity to the red, and black currants in the nose, and on the finish. Drink from 2025-2035."
