Chateau La Fleur Petrus

Chateau La Fleur Petrus 2016

19 RENÈ GABRIEL´S BX TOTAL: "(91% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc) Frisches, kräftiges, samtenes Bouquet, Erdbeerjoghurt, Himbeergelee, Minze, frische Kräuter, Pralinen. Ausgewogener, eleganter, dichtverwobener Gaumen mit kräftiger Frucht, viel feinem, sehr gut eingebundenem Tannin, vielfältiger, süsser Aromatik, cremiger, kraftvoller Struktur, langer, dichter, frischer Abgang. 19/20 2024 - 2042" - A. Kunz.

98-99 JAMES SUCKLING: " So much to this and it shows the magic of Pomerol. Full-bodied, layered and tannic with all the energy and focus of a great vintage from this estate. Superb."

95-98 ANTONIO GALLONI: "The 2016 La Fleur-Pétrus is all finesse. A wine of translucence and nuance, it is utterly captivating from the very first taste. Blood orange, chalk and white pepper overtones give the wine lift and tension that drive through to the finish. I imagine the 2016 will need a few years to enter its prime drinking window, but it is an absolute stunner today. The Cabernet Franc is especially expressive. The vintage was not without its challenges; some of the younger-vine Merlot succumbed to heat stress and was not used in the final blend. As a result, yields in finished wine are down about 20 percent."

95-98 WINESPECTATOR:" This has seamless layers of cassis, plum sauce and raspberry reduction notes carried by remarkably velvety structure through a long, graphite-fueled finish. The minerality is there, buried for now. The fruit is gorgeous. Score range: 95-98"

95-97 WINE ENTHUSIAST: "95–97. Barrel Sample. A rich wine with just the right tannins, concentrating the juicy black currant fruit and giving power. All of this is lifted by the wine´s acidity. It won´t be ready for at least 12-15 years."

92-94 THE WINEADVOCATE: "The 2016 La Fleur Petrus is a blend of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc. I prefer the aromatics here compared to the Latour-à-Pomerol and Hosanna: much more fruit (raspberry coulis and crushed strawberry), allied with mineralité and a sense of joie-de-vivre. The palate is medium-bodied with fine, supple tannin. It offers black fruit infused with melted tar and graphite notes, the Cabernet Franc imparting a very subtle bell pepper note towards the finish. This is a very fine La Fleur Petrus, not as flamboyant as the 2015, yet pretty and sophisticated."

JAMES SUCKLING: "Wow. The blackberry, dried-flower and orange-peel aromas are so impressive at first, but then they go to black truffle and wet earth. Full-bodied with a solid core of powerful yet fine-grained tannins. It goes on for minutes. A very muscular La Fleur-Pétrus. Drink after 2025."
98
DECANTER: "Again a 2016 Pomerol stuffed full of complexity and power, with a full tannic hold and not a trace of dryness but this is chewy through the finish and holds on tight. Blackcurrant, pepper, slate and grilled rosemary. Held back right now, it needs another three or four years in bottle. Drinking Window 2024 - 2044"
98
JEB DUNNUCK: "The 2016 Château La Fleur-Petrus is more regal and elegant, with an incredibly floral quality in its red and blue fruits, crushed rock, forest floor, and graphite-tinged aromas and flavors. This medium to full-bodied, rich, layered effort has notable structure, integrated acidity, beautiful balance, and a rock star finish. This is pure class and a thrilling La Fleur Petrus that needs 4-5 years of bottle age and will cruise for 2-3 decades."
98
THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Smoke, truffle, earth, black plum and floral notes create the perfume. If that wasn't enough, from there you find a sensuous display of gorgeously ripe, sweet, fresh, elegant fruits that effortlessly glide across your palate. This is so sexy!"
97
THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Blended of 91% Merlot and 9% Cabernet Franc, the medium garnet-purple colored 2016 la Fleur-Petrus reveals stunning Black Forest cake, redcurrant jelly and wilted roses scents with underlying suggestions of pencil shavings, yeast extract, dark chocolate and cloves. Medium to full-bodied, the mid-palate possesses superb intensity and depth with layers of perfumed black fruits and loads of red fruit sparks framed by firm, ripe, grainy tannins and oodles of freshness, finishing on a lingering earthy note."

WEINWISSER: "91 % Merlot und 9 % Cabernet Franc, 18,7 ha. Tiefes Purpur.
95
WINE ENTHUSIAST: "This wine comes from a large (for Pomerol) 46-acre vineyard. It has weight and density as well as dark tannins and rich black fruits. It shows great style with its beautifully integrated tannins. This wine will age well, ready to drink from 2025."
94
WINE SPECTATOR: "Ripe and warm in feel, with an alluring mix of creamy textured cherry, red currant and raspberry reduction notes, mixed with black tea and incense accents. Features a buried spine of graphite, with a hint of Turkish coffee lurking at the very end. Best from 2022 through 2036."
