DECANTER: "Elegant, finely boned yet still luscious, this has sweet strawberry and raspberry notes with touches of truffle. It seems at its peak, really enjoyable to drink now but it is not one that will keep going for much longer. Stéphane von Neipperg had arrived here in 1982, really taking over full-time from 1984. THE WINE ADVOCATE: "Fully mature, with considerable amber to its dark garnet color, this exotic, somewhat over-the-top style of wine shows lavishly wooded notes intermixed with tapenade, Asian spice, and sweet currant and plum-like fruit. Medium to full-bodied, very supple, without quite the level of concentrated and layered texture of the 1990, this is a wine to drink now and over the next 7-8 years."
