WEINWISSER: "Tiefes Purpur, satt in der Mitte, Granatschimmer am Rand. Splendides, offenes Black-Currant-Bouquet, süsslich, mit einer Nuance Brombeergelée. Im Gaumen weich, samtig, sehr feine Tannine, schon völlig präsent und wie damals ein paar 82er daherkommend. Hier wird man sehr früh viel Spass haben und das gut und locker 20 Jahre lang. Kaufen!"

JAMES SUCKLING: "A rich yet dry Pauillac that's now very attractive to drink and has a good harmony in spite of the generous alcohol. Long, supple finish. Drink or hold. (Horizontal Tasting, London, 2019)"

DECANTER: "This wine showed exceptionally well, both at the the Bordeaux 10 Years On tasting in London a few weeks ago and in the Decanter Premium tasting in New York. It’s great value for this level of Pauillac. Drinking Window 2019 - 2040"

FALSTAFF: "Dunkles Rubingranat, tiefer Farbkern, zarte Randaufhellung. Zart floral unterlegte feine dunkle Beerenfrucht, frische rote Herzkirschen, ein Hauch von Mandarinenzesten, feines Nougat ist unterlegt. Saftig, reife Herzkirschen, zarte Extraktsüße, gut integrierte reife Tannine, angenehme Frische, die dem Wein Schwung verleiht, mineralisch im Abgang, gutes weiteres Entwicklungspotenzial, kann noch weiter zulegen."

WINE ENTHUSIAST: "Smooth black currant fruit with great density as well as superripeness. The wine is charming, while still having a powerful structure. Still a relative value in Pauillac, Batailley is now showing real class."

JANCIS ROBINSON: "Earthy, mushroomy, truffley notes on the nose, as well as stewed bramble fruits and a fine vein of leafy character too. Quite understated in terms of its flavour range – perhaps only just reaching its drinking window."

WINE SPECTATOR: "A chewy core of black currant, tobacco and roasted apple wood stretches out through the grip-framed finish. Fresh acidity rides underneath to keep it all lively. A solid version, with a throwback hint. Best from 2013 through 2023."
