WEINWISSER: "Extrem dunkles Lila-Violett. Intensives Kirschen- und Tabakbouquet, Teernoten, Korinthen. Im Gaumen süss, viel weichere Tanninkonturen als frühere Jahrgänge, Dörrbananen und malzige Spuren, im Finale Brombeeren. Ein höllisch guter Wein, der beste Aiguilhe, den Stefan Neipperg bislang gemacht hat. Und ein Beweis, wie gut ein guter Côtes du Castillon sein kann."

THE WINE ADVOCATE: "The outstanding 2000 exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as a glorious nose of creosote, licorice, blackberry and cassis liqueur, medium to full body, tremendous texture, and impressive ripe fruit. It was bottled unfined and unfiltered after spending time in 80% new French oak, on its lees, with frequent batonnage as well as micro-oxygenation. This is serious stuff as well as a sleeper of the vintage. Anticipated maturity: now-2015."

THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "Fully mature, with licorice, stone, earth, black raspberry, spice, coffee and ripe plum scents, this round, medium bodied, soft textured wine is drinking at the perfect place today. If you have any remaining, I'd drink them over the next 2-4 years to preserve the fruit."

WINE SPECTATOR: "Deep and dark, with lots of crushed berries and meat on the nose and palate. Medium-bodied, with silky tannins and a mineral, berry aftertaste. Serious wine. From the makers of the La Mondotte. Best after 2006. 8,330 cases made. — JS"
