Mit dem Jahrgang 1990 wurde der BLANC DE LYNCH BAGES ins Leben gerufen, ein Wein, der seit dem ersten Jahrgang zu den gesuchtesten Weißweinen in ganz Bordeaux zählt, da neben herausragend guter Qualität die Produktion und somit die Zuteilungen sehr klein sind. Mit dem Jahrgang 2006 wurden diese nochmals reduziert, da die Selektion innerhalb der einzelnen Parzellen erheblich strenger durchgeführt wird. Am besten aber lassen wir JEAN CHARLES CAZES zu Worte kommen, der im vergangenen Februar mit MERCEDES AMG und UNGER WEINE zum wiederholten Male und mit großem Spaß in Schweden mit dabei war.

„…Adding to with the fresh fruit flavours of Sauvignon Blanc, including cassis buds, grapefruit and exotic fruit, flavours of dried or candied fruit and white flowers of Sémillon and Muscadelle mingle. The fermentation and aging in barrels, used precisely, give the wine fine woody and vanilla notes, which contribute to their aromatic complexity. In its youth, Blanc de Lynch-Bages is lively and explosive. Sauvignon Blanc, as it comes into full expression, gradually gives way to aromas of dried apricots, candied fruit and nuts, more specific to Sémillon. Throughout its life it maintains an exhilarating freshness and a long finish, typical of the great white wines of Bordeaux… The weather conditions for the 2016 vintage – wet during crop growth and summery during ripening – were favourable for the quality of the white grapes located in the cool soils of Saint-Sauveur. At the end of August, all parameters were just right for ensuring the future success of dry white wines, especially in the Médoc. Successive water stress phases, combined with high temperatures, concentrated the juice and eliminated the sometimes-herbaceous properties of the Sauvignon Blanc. Three maturity controls were carried out on 31 August, 7 then 12 September, and the grape shears cut the first Muscadelle grapes in brilliant sunshine at the first light of dawn on Tuesday 13 September. Quite rapidly, we also began harvesting the Sauvignon Blanc, our main white grape varietal, and finished with the Sémillon. After a break, we resumed picking on Monday 19 September, and ended the next day. In total, it took five mornings of picking and about 50 pickers to complete the harvest.” 52% Sauvignon blanc, 30% Semillon, 18% Muscadelle, per Hand gelesen, anschließend in 50% neuem Holz ausgebaut, ergeben den 2016 BLANC DE LNYCH BAGES, der dem Spitznamen von JEAN CHARLES CAZES „J.C. juicy“ alle Ehre macht. Dabei scheut JEAN CHARLES CAZES keinerlei Aufwand, mittels des „Oenoview“ genannten Satelittensystems kann er einzelne Plots innerhalb des Weinbergs nach deren Reifezustand lesen. Die Fässer wurden zudem mittlerweile komplett umgestellt auf drehbare Fasshalter, eine Praxis, die im Spitzenrotweinbau hier und da Anwendung findet, aber enorm teuer ist. JEAN CHARLES CAZES notiert:
“The Blanc de Lynch-Bages 2016, with its pale robe and green hues, is radiant in both the nose and mouth. It combines with finesse notes of citrus and exotic fruits with subtle spicy notes (vanilla, etc.). On the palate, the fresh attack increases in magnitude thanks to great Sémillon grapes. Its finish offers a remarkable aromatic persistence.“ 94 JAMES SUCKLING:
"A vivid white with mango, lemon and peach aromas. Exotic yet fresh. Pear drop. Full-bodied, layered and flavorful. Juicy and clean. Always wonderful to drink, but can improve with age." 94 DECANTER:
"This offers more proof that the whites in the Médoc have resisted the heat of August. The pH here is 3.01, and certainly the impression in the glass is of beautiful freshness with a creamy mid-palate of white peaches, honeysuckle and gentle citrus sorbet. Fermented at a low temperature in a combination of stainless steel, one year old barrels and 45% new oak with a very light toast, this is very delicate and extremely pretty. A blend of 52% Sauvignon Blanc, 30% Semillon and 18% Muscadelle." Wie wir bereits eingangs erwähnt haben, die Nachfrage übersteigt unsere zur Verfügung stehenden Mengen deutlich, und dies, obwohl wir eine der größten Zuteilungen überhaupt haben.
