A prominence of mirabelle wreathed in bittersweet floral perfume suggestive of iris and gentian leads to a juicy and silken palate transparent to nuances of floral, stony, legume sprout, and pungently buckwheat-like nature. The fine mousse here adds to this bottling’s sense of refinement and at once soothing yet stimulating and prodigiously sustained length, with salinity guaranteeing the priming of one’s salivary glands. Rich and ample on the palate, the Maillons shows all the textural richness of Pinot from this impeccably farmed parcel of 50 year-old vines in Barbonne-Fayel. Kirsch, mint, chamomile and dried flowers flesh out in a creamy, voluptuous Blanc de Noirs full of personality. In this release, Les Maillons is equal parts 2014 and 2013.
