17 JANCIS ROBINSON: "Deep purple. Relatively diffuse nose with just a hint of leafiness. Pleasant rather than dramatic. Neat, dry finish. Very competent. Quite long. May improve." 17 RENÈ GABRIEL: "Sattes, dichtes Violett-Purpur. Florales, würziges Bouquet; rauchige Töne, Rotkraut, aber auch viel Fruchtaromen, Rosenduft. Erst im Gaumen kommt diese wunderbare Waldbeerenaromatik zum Tragen, Veilchen, Cassis, weiche Tannine. Für einmal ein Bécot, der in der Jugend nicht so hart ist. Trotz guter Worte liegt er aber etwas hinter seinen eigenen Erwartungen zurück. (17/20). 08: Kein Finessenwein, sonder eher ein Bolide mit Kraft und Muskeln, dies aber bei mittlerer Konzentration, weshalb es dem Wein vielleicht etwas an Fleisch mangelt. (17/20). 14: Mittleres Granat-Rubin. Süss, pfeffrig, Piemontkirschen, ziemlich wuchtig im Ansatz, zumindest nach all den Médocs. Im Gaumen ein fein kompottig-pfeffriger Ansatz. Kein feiner Saint-Emilion, aber einer mit viel Power. Der Bécot ist meist wie der Sänger (Gilbert Bécot) markant und beeindruckend, aber mit «rauher Stimme». Drei Flaschen geöffnet, eine korkig, die andere etwas dumpf, die andere eine Bombe. Mag nicht ganz in seiner Kategorie mithalten. (17/20). 15: Bei einem Diner auf Clos Dubreuil war er süss, und erstaunlich fein (für einen BB) und bereitete sehr viel Spass." 93 THE WINE CELLAR INSIDER: "At just past 10 years of bottle age, this is starting to open nicely, with a nose packed with earth, truffle, crushed stone, juicy plums and tobacco. Refined, elegant and soft, the finish leaves you with a rich sensation of pure, ripe blackberries." 92 WINE ENTHUSIAST: "The Becots, Gérard and Dominique, have produced a stylish, modern wine that powers black, sweet fruits through the deceptively soft tannins. Tarry flavors and layers of new wood give the wine a new world character. How long it will last is open to question at this stage. It is certainly developing quickly." 91 ANTONIO GALLONI: "Bright medium ruby. Smoky aromas of black raspberry, roast coffee, meat and nutty oak. Silky and supple on entry, then lush and sweet in the middle, with expansive, slightly jammy plum, currant, chocolate and licorice flavors. Nicely structured and firm for a wine this rich and sweet, thanks to solid underlying acidity and substantial ripe, toothcoating tannins.
